Traditionally, Christmas jumpers – while a lot of fun – haven’t had very much sartorial standing. As such, I’ve always swerved garish, novelty knitwear in favour of a sequin dress or an Isabel Marant-inspired sheer, sparkly top when it comes to my Christmas Day outfit choice. But something inside of me has changed this year. Perhaps it’s the fact that Christmas is officially back on after two very touch-and-go holiday seasons (my whole family rolled up with COVID in 2021), or perhaps it’s the plethora of genuinely-quite-nice Christmas jumpers that have landed on the high street for 2022. Either way, Christmas jumpers seem to have finally met the word “chic” and made it onto my Christmas party wish list as a result. Who’d have ever guessed it?
